Just caught this interesting tidbit about JC - no, not that JC; JC as in Johnny Carson.

It's about the DVD release of a bunch of episodes of The Johnny Carson Show, a talk show Johnny hosted before he got the Tonight Show. This brings back a lot of bad memories for me. See, Johnny and I were pretty tight back then, both of us struggling, as-of-yet unrecognized geniuses just waiting to be discovered.

Most people don't know this but Johnny and I were both up for the hosting gig on that show. Johnny was greener than I and - not to speak ill of the dead - but he just wasn't as natural in front of the camera as I was/still am.

But who got the gig? Johnny. Why? Just because he happened to have the same name as the show, that's why!

We were never as tight after that.
